Cannot Search In Outlook
MS Outlook is a popular personal information management application. It is used for handling e-mails, maintaining to do lists, setting reminders and calendaring tasks. All of the data required to manage these diverse tasks is stored in the Outlook PST file. Find a specific piece of information is often much easier by using the built in search function. Some users, however, have reported that the search function stops working after upgrading Outlook to a more current version. When attempting to perform a search in the new Outlook version, the user receives the message:
The search results cannot be displayed
During the upgrade process, the data in the PST file is indexed and this can sometimes cause corruption of the Outlook PST file. To resolve this issue, users should run the Scanpst.exe utility found at:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033
Once the utility is running, browse to the PST file and start a scan. When the utility identifies a problem, it automatically will repair the data. This will often resolve the issue. If Outlook continues to have trouble conducting searches, it is recommended to use a third party Outlook PST Repair application.
