Window 7 Cannot Run the Inbox Repair Tool
Most MS Outlook users are familiar with the process of using the Inbox Repair Tool to resolve issues associated with a damaged or corrupt PST file. After upgrading their operating system to Windows 7, some users are reporting that they can no longer run the Inbox Repair Tool because it does not appear in the default folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033
During the upgrade process, Windows 7 often marks the Scanpst.exe file as a hidden file. In order to resolve this problem, the user should navigate to the folder where the Scanpst.exe folder is normally located and adjust the properties of the folder to display hidden files. Users can then uncheck the Hidden Folder box in the properties of the Scanpst.exe utility. Users uncomfortable modifying folder and program properties may prefer to take advantage or a more robust Outlook PST Repair tool provided by a third party vendor.
